For all of you (mommies) that have, will or do breastfeed your babies I tip my hat to you .... it's a HARD job but someones gotta do it . My quote for the week has been "So for goodness sake give that kid your bubby" ----sorry grandpa if your reading this :) lol
I read a story in a post on my March Mommies Club that went a little like this ....
I walked into a cell phone store with my 5 month old baby and took my place at the back of a long line of people. I glanced over and noticed a young girl maybe 17-18 years old sitting down trying to comfort her baby by nursing her in a chair in the corner. She struggled with it a bit and looked kind of scared. I was thinking to myself "good for her" ! All of a sudden a lady came out of no where, walked over to the young girl and told her that no one wanted to see her ___ ( i'll say breast) and why doesn't she just go into her car and feed her baby!!!!! The young girl looked like she was going to cry and said that she didn't want to loose her place in line then apologised to the lady. I thought to myself no way am I going to let this woman make this young girl feel bad for nursing her baby. So I walked over to them and said" Oh, this must be the nursing area!"pulled down my shirt attached my baby and started nursing too. The rude woman glared at me ... if looks could kill. I looked back at her as did the young girl and smiled.
So to my March Mommies ( friend bloggers) that read this - give Jessica a cyber -hug!
I love this story!!!! I'm so glad that this woman (Jessica) helped out this young girl. That very well could of been the end of her breastfeeding "career" with that baby.
Did you know - Only 19% of young mothers between the age of 16-21 breastfeed their babies.
I don't think I would of had the nerve to do what she did, but in the future I will reconsider my nerves and do what feels right.
Although at this point in the game I'm not exclusively breastfeeding, I still feel proud that I do when I'm with Ethan.
The picture just reminded me of the post :)
